International English Language Testing System training<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

IELTS, the International English Language \n Testing System, is designed to assess the language ability of candidates \n who need to study or work where English is used as the language of communication. \n IELTS is required for entry to university in the UK and other countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who is it for?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

IELTS is recognised by universities and employers in many countries, \n including Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK and the USA. \n It is also recognised by professional bodies, immigration authorities \n and other government agencies.
\n More than 2 million people a year take the test. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is the IELTS test like?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

You can choose between the Academic or General Training versions of the test. All candidates do the same Listening and Speaking sections.
The test has four sections: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Listening – 4 sections, 40 questions, 30 minutes <\/li>
  2. Speaking – interview, 15 minutes<\/li>
  3. Reading – different for Academic or General Training – 3 sections, 40 questions, 60 minutes
    <\/li>
  4. Writing – different for Academic or General Training – 2 pieces of writing, 60 minutes<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    This site also contains vocabulary tests, including practice tests for the academic wordlist, as well as grammar tests that are relevant to IELTS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Level and scores<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

    Multi-level. You get a score between 1 and 9. Half scores such as 6.5 are possible. Universities often demand an IELTS score of 6 or 7.     Covers the requirements of the task
    (Academic Training) presents a clear overview of main trends, differences or stages
    (General Training) presents a clear purpose, with the tone consistent and appropriate
    Clearly presents and highlights key features\/bullet points but could be more fully extended

    Coherence and cohesion <\/strong>
    Logically organises information and ideas; there is clear progression throughout
